Fashion Sunglasses: How to Choose Shades as Statement Pieces
If you’re like me you love wearing fashion sunglasses, whether it’s a particularly sunny day or you’re trying to cover up the lack of sleep from the day before or perhaps you are following the twilight vampire obsession and are adverse to the light, sunglasses are a great accessory.
I recently went to the shops and strolled by a sunglasses hut. With a little extra cash I had from some grueling extra shifts at work I thought why not splurge and treat myself to some sunnies. Searching through the different styles I came across a pair of black polarized Ray ban Australian wayfarers that really stood out for me.
After trying it on I was convinced, they were made for me. They had a retro look to them and a distinctive frame larger than the average size with sturdy arms.
Now every chance I get I take out my Ray Ban Australians and strut around feeling much more comfortable and even attractive than I normally would. I consider it money well spent.
If you are considering buying a pair of fashion sunglasses, which I recommend, here are some styles and trends including Ray Ban Australians that may interest you:
I’m sure you know Jackie Kennedy, the stylish first lady whom wore her patented oversized shades in public. Since then oversized shades have been popular with the crowd and continue to be a notable style trend especially for females.
The lenses cover a very wide portion of the face giving that mysterious and indistinguishable look. There are many variations of this shade and it can be bought in different colours depending on your preferences.
Ray-Ban Australian Wayfarer shades:
Ray-Ban Australian Wayfarer shades have a little bit of a retro touch to them and can be easily combined into modern day trends and outfits.
In the early 20th century Wayfarer shades underwent a significant redesign, which made the frames smaller and less angular. They are now quite popular and come in three designs: Original Wayfarer, New Wayfarer, and Wayfarer Folding styles.
Aviator sunglasses are large teardrop lenses with a thin metal frame that hook behind the ears and a double or triple bridge. Aviator sunglasses are most popular mirrored, coloured and wrap around. Originally designed for pilots this type of style has become popular with young people selling to the younger market at a rapid rate.
New geek chic style:
I’m sure you have spotted someone down the street brandishing a pair of oversized geeky shades. Well this type of shade is making a comeback. The geek-chic and preppy inspired style of shades is a key look on the glasses trend scene that has become very fashionable.
Nerd shades of today aren’t the same coke bottle thick lenses instead they are sleek but slyly stylish frames that are found in magazines, and movies. It is considered very indie, bold and alternative to wear.
Tea shades are wire-rim glasses that have a unique aesthetic look. The original tea shade design was made up of medium-sized, perfectly round lenses, supported by pads on the bridge of the nose and a thin wire frame. Originals tea shades were elaborately mirrored and produced in excessively large sizes and with the wire earpieces exaggerated. Modern versions tend to have plastic lenses.
These current styles of shades allow you to be imaginative and creative with what you wear and how you look. It’s good to try out many styles because odds are they will always become fashionable one day or another. There also very beneficial and smart as they protect the eyes against potentially harmful damage caused by the sun.
It doesn’t hurt to look good in the sun so try out and experiment some new shades for the summer of 2012.
